YouTube TV is expanding to eight more cities

Today, Google announced that YouTube TV is expanding to eight more markets. As picked

up by Android Police, the OTT service will now also be available in Albuquerque, Austin, Birmingham, Greenville, Norfolk, Portland, Raleigh, and Sacramento. The announcement comes after a recent expansion in June, which brought in cities like Atlanta and Houston, and another expansion in August, which included another 14 cities, including Baltimore and Nashville. The expansions have been steady since the service’s initial debut in April. The slow rollouts for additional cities is the result of YouTube TV not only supporting larger broadcast networks that supply content, but local stations as well, meaning deals have to be worked out for each market. YouTube TV was initially available in five of the US’s largest cities, and the continual additions mean that more than half the country now has access to the platform. In its efforts to provide a worthwhile alternative to traditional cable, YouTube TV now offers almost 50 networks and costs $35 a month.                                                                                                                     https://www.theverge.com/tech/2017/9/14/16308664/youtube-tv-google-eight-more-cities
