LG and Comcast announced that they will be bringing Comcast’s Xfinity TV Partner app to
2017 and 2018 LG webOS Smart TV models sometime in 2018, letting customers get live Comcast cable directly on a smart TV without a set-top box.
LG TV owners will also be able to cloud DVR recordings from their other Comcast boxes through the app, too. Rollout is still a ways out: Comcast isn’t even planning on running a beta of the new app until sometime in early 2018, and there’s no estimated time frame for the full final release.
Comcast has been running its Xfinity TV Partner app service for a while now, starting with Roku and Samsung devices back in 2016 as a way to make Comcast TV service more available to consumers across a wider range of devices. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/9/25/16362846/lg-smart-tv-comcast-cable-xfinity-tv-partner-app-live-streaming
